About Me
I have been a college admissions consultant and professional coach for over twenty-five years. I earned my BA in film and media studies from Columbia University and my MA in organization and leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. My career began in Princeton, New Jersey when I became a standardized test expert for a large, internationally-known test preparation company. My formal training prepared me to teach/tutor for SAT math and English and the GMAT, GRE, and LSAT. As a tutor, I earned excellent performance ratings and became a director within six months.
After over five years of helping thousands of students prepare for the SATs and other standardized tests, I went on to work for various Wall Street and Internet companies in training and organizational development, coaching entry-level to senior executives on management, leadership, conflict resolution, diversity, interviewing skills, public speaking, and executive function skills.
In 2001, a significant personal event led to a career shift. When my first child was born, I transitioned to a career in entertainment industry business management. This transition was prompted by my son's signing with Ford Models as an infant. I successfully managed his 16-year career, which included over 200 bookings in print, TV, internet, national commercials, and film. When my daughter joined the industry in 2007, I managed her auditions and bookings until she opted out of the business. During this time, I also provided valuable consultation and coaching to families, sharing insights and strategies for success and sanity in the entertainment industry.
When my son was 11, he shifted his focus from acting to academics. With my full support, he balanced work and study, with a greater emphasis on the latter. As he progressed through high school, it became clear that he had a strong chance of gaining admission to the world's most prestigious universities. I guided his education, service, and extracurricular activities, ensuring a well-rounded profile. His hard work paid off when he was accepted to several top-tier and Ivy League schools. He graduated with a BSE in mechanical engineering and an MSE in robotics from an Ivy League university, a testament to his dedication and my strategic coaching approach. He is now thriving in his professional career, while my daughter is still in high school.
In 2014, I founded Addison Admissions and began working with students and parents on college counseling and essay coaching, focusing on a personal, student-centered approach and the importance of finding one's edge. My gift is finding and extracting every student's best qualities and helping them communicate effectively to Admissions. My goal with every student is to keep the stress low and the results high.
